My practice is a personal narrative rooted in abstraction. I work mainly from a formal position; creating tensions and balances between colour, shape, line and space. The relationship between these elements and allowing them to generate from one another is what keeps the painting alive and moving. It is a very intimate relationship where process is the driving force.
Intuition, trust, letting go and self-exploration are essential elements in this creative process.
I want the painting to have a life of its own, it has to be real, and it has to be believable.
Main influences are past painting experiences, The Abstract Expressionists and Aboriginal Art.
Ultimately it’s about exposing an internal landscape, I follow the painting.
