I am a Toronto-based artist who was raised in Bogotá, Colombia where I received my degree in Architecture and Design.
I was raised amongst my father’s collection of pre-Colombian art and artifacts and spent the family holidays in a valley called Sibundoy, a picturesque region 1000 km south of Bogotá. This region is still inhabited today by the indigenous people, the Ingas and Kametzas. It is from these experiences that form my initial inspiration to my artistic direction.
I use the ancient medium of Encaustic which allows me to use the skills I acquired in my architectural training to create paintings with textures and dimension only achieved with this medium. Its versatility allows me to give my paintings a unique quality while still incorporating the elements and influences of my past.
