Janice Colbert is a professional Canadian artist. She holds a BFA from OCADU and an MFA from UBC.
Prior to that she worked for many years as a fashion designer and her painting continues to reflect her interest in textiles. Her art contains elements abstracted from antique quilts, the reconciliation/ juxtaposition of “traditional” and “modern” and the interface of what the eye sees and the mind interprets.
Janice paints on wood panel and heritage wood ironing boards from the 1920’s.
Exhibitions include: Aqua 12, 13 and 14 Art Fair during Art Basel Miami, Art Toronto, Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, The Power Plant, Madrona Gallery-Victoria BC, Nuit Blanche and Tom Thomson Art Gallery-Owen Sound.
Awards include being short-listed for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2012 in London, England and the RBC Canadian Painting Competition 2009.
Recent exhibitions include Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Mexico City and Toronto.
