David Brown is an award-winning artist living and working in Toronto. His heavily textured abstract compositions have been exhibited extensively since 2003. Widely collected David’s work is held in private and corporate collections across North America, Europe, and Asia. David’s paintings have been favourably reviewed by The Toronto Star, The Hamilton Spectator, Inside Toronto, City TV, HGTV, BlogTO, Akimbo, and Dilettantes Diary.
In his latest series of paintings David Brown continues to explore the limits of the encaustic medium while balancing non-representational image and abstract space. David’s lyrical and constructivist approach contrasts delicate line-work and hard-edge geometric forms against graceful, gestural brushwork. David works in successive layers of applied, scraped-off and covered-over wax in a potentially endless process of revision and discovery.
