My work is influenced by the urban environment and social connectedness. I examine urban sprawl by using grids to evoke aerial views, landscapes and cartography. The grids are the infrastructure within city environments but also suggest a journey and the desire for a home.
I’m drawn to the spontaneous nature of encaustic for its textural possibilities and strive to create a distressed surface. I use incised encaustic techniques together with multiple layers of paint resulting in visual effects that represent erosion, decay and chaotic energy.
I have a formal education in art history, marketing and fine arts from McGill University, University of Toronto & Toronto School of Art. I exhibit in Canada, the USA and I'm represented by Propeller Gallery. My paintings are also available at the Cube Gallery in Ottawa. For a current list of shows, please visit my website.
