Alexander Koltakov is a Toronto-based artist. Most of his works are canvas paintings, but also his favorites are plaster on wood reliefs or the 3-dimensional paintings, as he calls them. On canvases he work with brushes, palette knifes and finger touch when needed. He works mostly in impressionist's style, occasionally has some realistic works.
His 3D paintings are consist of the plaster figures, sculptured and carved on the base of the wooden panel, finally covered with acrylic colors, creating spatial view, as real, as color - induced.
He is truly passionate about the amazing beauty of nature, processing it through his eyes, his mind and his hands to the stillness of canvases and plaster, aspire to express not the picture, but the life itself, without forgetting the fabulousness of human presence in it.
